Congratulations and huge welcome to Rayana Rayo and José Eduardo Ferreira Santos [Photo], new residents at Maison Édouard Glissant / Édouard Glissant House, from August 5th, 2025.
Rayana Rayo is a visual artist from Recife (BR), with a practice diving into abstraction, guided by intuition and emotion. Her paintings bring together feelings like joy and sadness, mystery and grief – all flowing from the unconscious, in soft and emotional layers.
José Eduardo Ferreira Santos is a pedagogue, curator and the founder of Acervo da Laje, a space of aesthetic and artistic memory in the peripheries of Salvador (BR). He holds a Master’s degree in Psychology, a PhD in Public Health and a post-doctorate in Contemporary Culture.
Both residencies will take place at Maison Édouard Glissant / Édouard Glissant House (Le Diamant, Martinique), a location awarded by the French Culture Ministry with the ‘illustrious house / Maison des illustres’ label.

Part of the 2025 event « Glissant in Brazil », in the context of the Brazil – France Season 2025, including art residencies, conferences cycle (in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador de Bahia) and ‘The Earth, The Fire, The Water, and The Winds – For a Museum of Errantry with Édouard Glissant’ (curators Paulo Miyada and Ana Roman), the first ever international exhibition presenting the Édouard Glissant Art Collection in relation with new art generations, at Instituto Tomie Ohtake (Sao Paolo, BR), from September 2nd 2025 (vernissage) through January 25th 2026.
